Three Ways to Get More
Readers to Your Blog Articles
By
Karl Foxley
A blog is a great tool for marketing your business. A blog allows you to
update your prospects and clients with your latest company develops, whether
that be the new service you are ready to roll out or the new product line
that has just completed production.
The difficulty some blog owners face is getting a steady stream of readers
to their posts, and encouraging repeat readers to come about.
I'm going to share with your three ways you can encourage your visitors to
come back to blog again-and-again so that you can keep your brand, product
and service fresh
in their minds.
1. RSS Feed
Having an RSS feed is as essential for a blog as having a newsletter opt-in
form. RSS, real simple syndication, allows your visitors to grab your blog
'feed' so that they can receive alerts when your blog is updated in the
future. Your new posts will be delivered to your RSS subscribers in their
favourite feed readers.
I recommend using a partial feed so that your RSS subscribers can only view
a snippet of your latest post, meaning they must visit your site to view the
full content.
The best place to have an RSS feed is prominately displayed at the top of
your blog, throughout the site, and at the end of each post that you write.
By doing this you
will increase your RSS subscriber rates.
2. Email Newsletter
Building a database of email newsletter subscribers is just as important for
blog owners as it is for business websites. You see, if you have subscribers
that want to receive email communication from you, you will be able to alert
them to the fact that you have a new blog post available for them to read.
While many people write blog posts in the hope that they will be picked up
by the search engines and a trickle of visitors will start to land on the
site, having an email subscriber database allows you to get instant visitors
to your new blog article for quick feedback and, if you are running a
promotion, purchases.
Display your email newsletter opt-in form prominently on your blog so it is
easy for your visitors to find.
3. Subscribe to Comments
Many blog platforms allow blog visitors to leave comments at the end of blog
articles. A great feature to allow is the ability for people to subscribe to
comments so that they receive email updates each time an additional comment
is left on the post.
By doing this you can encourage conversation between your readers that have
left comments and encourage some great UGC, user generated content.
Conclusion
Getting more visitors to your blog articles can be easily improved by
prominently displaying your RSS feed so that your visitors can subscribe for
future updates each time your post new content. By having a newsletter
opt-in form you are able to build an email subscriber list of people that
want to hear your latest news and having a subscribe to comments options
allows you to encourage conversation between those that comment on your
site.
