Blog Marketing - A Must For Any Marketer!

By Ben Pedersen

Everyday more and more blogs are created for almost any topic that's out there. With so many blogs out there, it only makes sense to add blogging to your marketing efforts for traffic and to build an online presence for your niche.

The concept behind blog marketing is to bring traffic to your site through quality backlinks. In order to do this, you need to first find a niche and some popular blogs for that niche to start marketing in. To start, go to Google and search for a particular niche and then add "+ Blogs" to the keyword. So if you decided venture into the house train your dog niche, the Google search would look like this, "House train dog + Blog." When you have found a few blogs, go to each one and create an account to start blogging.

The very first posts you make need to ensure you don't sound inexperienced or anything like that. You want to be an expert in your niche and your blog posts need to reflect it. At the end of your post you will have a signature, which is where you will place your backlink to your site or offer. The best signatures are ones that have a phrase that pushes the reader to go to the link and continue reading. This is usually done by offering a free report or at the very least more information on what the reader is looking for.

A good signature example would be, "Interested in finding out the secret behind house breaking your dog? Then click here for a free report to get your dog house trained in as little as a week!"

The biggest points to make about your signature are to first have the backlink be an anchor text of the keyword you chose. Secondly, it needs to read like it pushes people to click on it to find solutions to their problems. It's also worth noting that every post you make should not be too sales focused. You need to contribute to the blog posts with a professional/expert approach. I use a rule of thumb that when posting on blogs, 1 in 3 posts should be directing readers to click your link for solutions and answers.

Blog marketing can bring swarms of traffic that otherwise wouldn't have came across your offer and can generate some quality backlinks, but spending too much time in blogs and forums can do more bad than good.

Set a time limit for each blog you log into. All too often people go to blogs to add a couple posts and then move on to the next, but always end up spending hours reading everything on the blog. Don't let yourself fall for this trap! Stick to a list of popular blogs for your niche and only give yourself a set amount of time to be logged into each blog so you don't fall victim to this.
